I'm a lurker, but I have come across when I play online, worldwide, specifically 2 users I've played, they were able to use red shells, without hitting an item box, not being anywhere near it! but it seemed to happen when I got into first place. They were playing with me, I could see them slowing down, LETTING me get in 1st, and then they'd do their "trick". I was just wondering if anyone else has encountered that.
i've been meeting up with some friends at mc'donnalds for 8 month's now but in the last month or 2 we've been trying to use are nintendo ds to get online with the mc'donnalds wifi and we keep getting error 53002 and 53000....nintendo say that there is no compatibal wifi in the area and i've try'd 7 diffrint ds's and 5 diffrint mc'donnalds and still have the same problem...what i want to know is....did nintendo drop there wifi thing at mc'donnalds or do you have to pay for it now or something?
i would like all ppl with a ds to test this out just to see if it's only in tacoma wa or everywhere.....
Hey everybody. I'm getting rid of my box for Mario Kart DS (since my dog chewed up the game card a while back) and I remember asking if anyone was interested in it a while back, but I just now got around to cleaning out the junk room and I found it. It's still in perfect shape. I'm not asking anything for it except for a buck for shipping. I have it listed on eBay just to make it easier. It's a sad thing to say, but i'm selling my DS along with several games. I just never have the time to play anymore and there's no point in such a nice DS sitting around and collecting dust. I figured I would let you all know, so that if anyone has a sibling or friend that was looking for a cheap DS (with some extra games), perhaps you all could pass the word around. It's one of the MarioKart special edition red ones with the original sheet of decals and everything, and it's in great condition with spotless/scratchless screens and just a few minor scratches to the casing.

Hullo. Bought a DS Lite and Mario Kart yesterday. So far I suck at it. I haven't played a handheld system since the old mono-chrome nintendo Brick.
btw, profile on Nintendo Wifi is chenry, emblem is the power symbol
hey i need some friends for wifi
will someone or people be my friends?
and you probably already figured this out, but just in case:
I see that happen a lot.
1) Snaking. There's lag, so sometimes, it looks like they are floating around like a crazy bee zipping back and forth on the track. If not you, then (s)he must have slower connection. But it's definitely snaking under induced lagging. There's no hovering existing.
2) No sparks seen from Karts while they are drifting/snaking/boosting:> Why? because in order to keep a smooth, non-skipping, game going, a few details had to be removed from the race in order to lessen the information being brought to your DS through the LAN connection (wi-fi). You don't see their spark details, because it's not "that important" to be transferred to your screen in order for the game to function well. So, you only see your OWN sparks being generated from your OWN DS...not theirs. Bummer
3) Items removed/Dragging items: Other things you'll realize that were removed to keep a game flowing is the removal of "3 shells" and the "3 bananas". Also, you can't "drag" the item behind your kart.
There's a lag that exists from DS to DS, no matter how fast teh connection is. usually, the lag is so minimal that it appears to be perfectly smooth. But, it's not...there's still a very minimal split second lag.
Think about how it looks when you throw a RED SHELL at the kart in front of you, and they are close enough for you see. You'll see that the shell will hit, but 1/2 a second later, the Kart will spin out.
Because of this lag, this is the reason why dragging your item (fake item box, shell, banana) isn't available on WiFi when you go Online. What if your opponent is dragging the item, there's lag, and you get hit by it from driving "too close behind him", but because of lag, in actuality, he's further ahead on HIS/HER screen and is still holding it. Equals-removed features.
4) Offline tracks in Online games: EXISTS! It's crazy, I know...i know.. But it does exist. A week ago, I was playing in the early morning (Pacific Time: Los Angeles) and "BOWSER CASTLE" was chosen from a RED TAGGED name (that means they are racing from Asia, and there were 3 of us, and both of them were RED: Asia). I got excited thinking that Nintendo finally released some Offline tracks from their server, so I quickly scanned the list for that track...Wasn't there. So I picked whatever track hoping that the voting system will choose BOWSER CASTLE. it didn't...and for the next race, an Online track was picked... I never saw offline tracks again after that race. I can vouch for offline tracks existing online. Whether you can race on them or not, I can't say for sure, but it looks like you definitely can.
Of COURSE, playing head-to-head with people in a room (WiFi Multiplayer. not online) will be as normal as playing by yourself. Every part of the game is in tact and you get all options opened (if unlocked) and usually there's no skipping in gameplay.
Sometimes, the game will have a 1/4 sec skip in the game for some reason. I think it has to do with the antennas (or DS's) being too close to one another, maybe...
Well, that's all I can think of that has affected my gameplay that I was able to research and figure out solutions to.
I don't know everything, but I do know quite a bit about gaming and this game in particular. If you are seeing anything weird or have questions about anythign about the game whether online or offline, post your question here and I'll try to figure it out for your via research or self-experience.
Have any rebuttles against my claims? Let me know, maybe I'm wrong on something and you can enlighten us! ^_^
Any other comments welcome and encouraged.
OH! I almost forgot, I'm new to this forum/group. My name is Jupiter in my game, Brian in real life, Peruru on livejournal. and my fried code is:
0 3 8 7 1 6
1 0 4 4 9 4
Icon: Kirby with Spike ability in 3D-esque
I was playing MarioKart on Wi-Fi a couple nights ago against 3 random people, and one of them kept picking tracks that aren't available on Wi-Fi play. He picked Tick Tock Clock, Shroom Ridge, Bowser's Castle (not sure of the actual name) and then finally on the last race his track was picked and we were all racing on Waluigi Pinball!
Is there some MarioKart hack I don't know about that lets you choose out of all the races while playing on Wi-Fi? It was so nice to be playing something new.
Alright im sorry about this rant, but ever since I have had my wi-fi up and running in my house, I have been playing alot of Mario Kart DS. First I thought hey this would be fun, im not gonna win all the time but at least it will be fun and competitive, wrong. The thing that annoys me the most is snakers, first off its not a real skill, second of all it annoys me how every race the same person is snaking, and usally winning. But the last 10 races or so that I had, I have been able to beat the snakers. The only problem since they cheat to win, they cant cheat to loose! I mean I manage to play fairly and win, until the last race where the snaker is losing and then decides to leave the race leaving me alone. Right now because of the snakers out there I should be dead even with wins and loses. I will continue to play Mario Kart DS online, but I hope I get some real challenges like I di with some of my friends when we have DS meetings and such.
Who here snakes, and be honest.
Who here cant stand snaking?
Who here wants a real race?
Well I will put up my friend code tonight, that is the only time im free. So if anyone is up at about 11pm pst tonight, check live journal and lets play some honest Mario Kart.
